New TV series captures the chaos of Chris Hemsworth’s new favourite restaurant The Belongil opening
THE Belongil co-founder Shannon Bennett will star in a new TV series following the opening of the new Byron Bay hotspot.
The six-part documentary Shannon Bennett: Pressure Cooker is set to premiere on BINGE this year. The series will follow the former Vue de Monde chef’s return to the kitchen after a six-year hiatus, leading up to his 50th birthday.
Surrounded by a close circle of creatives, industry heavyweights and high-profile supporters, Bennett navigates the chaos, doubt and adrenaline of building something extraordinary from the ground up, revealing the emotional rollercoaster behind the pursuit of high stakes and perfection.

As design concepts evolve, building costs soar and menus await careful curation, timelines stretch to breaking point, and the pressure intensifies.
The Belongil opened in December on the former site of Belongil Beach Italian. The development houses four venues: fine dining restaurant Feu; the more relaxed Belongil Bistro; prohibition-style bar Blind Tiger, which operates on an invitation-only basis for loyal customers; and streetside outlet Kiosk, serving toasted sandwiches, egg and bacon rolls, and homemade pastries.

Hollywood star Chris Hemsworth and his actress wife Elsa Pataky, who live at Broken Head, were among the first guests to experience Feu in January.
Hemsworth posted to his 58 million followers on Instagram that it was his new favourite restaurant and thanked Bennett for what he described as “one of the most epic gourmet food adventures I’ve ever had”. The post received nearly 600,000 likes and more than 1000 comments.
Bennett, who lives at Belongil, partnered with his neighbour, businessman and property investor Glen Norman – the son of late Harvey Norman co-founder Ian Norman – to deliver the $10 million project.
