NOMINATIONS are open for the 2026 Multicultural Awards and Member for Lismore, Janelle Saffin, has asked communities across the electorate to nominate inspiring individuals and organisations in their area.

The program recognises leaders, volunteers, change-makers, innovators, artists, creatives, and sporting trailblazers, as well as their contributions to social cohesion and multicultural harmony in NSW.

The nomination categories for 2026 include medals for community harmony, community service, arts and culture, languages, interpretation and translation, health, not-for-profit, youth, sports, media and regional unity.

In addition, the Multicultural Honour Roll is a posthumous recognition that commemorates the impact the recipient had during their life on fostering an inclusive and harmonious society.

Saffin said the nomination was the opportunity to nominate a local person or organisation that has made an important contribution to an inclusive and harmonious society.

“I’d love to see our local heroes get the kudos they deserve,” she said.

The awards will be presented at the Premier’s Harmony Dinner in March 2026 – one of the most significant multicultural events in Australia.

Nominations close at 11.59 pm on Sunday, September 28.
