Have you seen Yvonne? Police to hold press conference as search continues for missing woman

POLICE are appealing for public assistance to locate a 73-year-old woman missing from the Tweed.

Yvonne Whear was last seen driving along Queensland Road at Murwillumbah on Thursday February 19.

Officers from Tweed/Byron Police District were notified on Saturday February 21 and began inquiries into her whereabouts.

Police and family have serious concerns for her welfare, describing her disappearance as out of character.

Yvonne was initially believed to have last been seen at Dungay on Wednesday February 18.

 

 

Further inquiries established she attended the Shell service station on Tweed Valley Way at Murwillumbah about 3.15pm on February 19.

About 3.22pm the same day, her vehicle, a gold Ford Escape wagon with NSW registration EWS28P, was seen travelling north on Queensland Road towards Dungay.

She has not been seen or heard from since.

Yvonne is described as being of Mediterranean or Middle Eastern appearance, about 154cm tall, of medium to solid build, with long grey-brown hair and a large scar possibly on her right arm.

She is known to frequent the Murwillumbah and Dungay areas.

A press conference will be held at 1pm today outside Tweed Heads Police Station, where Tweed/Byron Police District crime manager Detective Inspector Matthew Zimmer is expected to address the media.
