Rebate expanded to cover period and incontinence products
TWEED Shire Council has expanded its reusable hygiene product rebate scheme, allowing Tweed residents to claim money back on period, incontinence and nappy products in a bid to ease cost-of-living pressures and cut landfill waste.
Everyday essentials like period products, incontinence aids and nappies can take a toll on both household budgets and the environment.
The new initiative from Tweed Shire Council aims to ease that burden, expanding its rebate scheme to support residents switching to reusable alternatives.
The program includes a broader range of items such as menstrual cups, reusable pads, period underwear, cloth nappies and reusable incontinence products.
The rebate provides up to 50 per cent of the purchase price, or to a maximum of 100 dollars per category per household, for eligible items bought from the start of 2026.

Council’s director of sustainable communities and environment Naomi Searle said the move reflects growing interest in cost-saving and waste reduction measures.
“With household budgets under pressure, this is a practical step,” she said.
“Reusable products save money over time, reduce waste and work for people at every age and stage of life.”
Residents looking to claim the rebate will need to apply in person at council administration building in Murwillumbah or Tweed Heads, bringing identification, proof of address, receipts and a completed application form.
The initiative is set to run through to the end of the year, although funding is limited and may be exhausted before the closing date.
