THE NSW Reconstruction Authority (RA) will host Resilient Homes Expos in the Northern Rivers in the coming weeks to support registered homeowners.

The RA expos will assist residents seeking to make their homes more flood-resilient and community members looking to relocate a buyback home to a new location.

Attendees can expect information about the grant and development approval processes and how successful resilient building and relocation projects can be delivered.

Information stands, and representatives from councils, RA, SafeWork NSW, Building Commission NSW, and other industry associations and businesses will provide information to homeowners and businesses.

Additional sessions will be held throughout the event, allowing attendees to choose activities that best suit their needs. Session topics include Planning Resilient Measures work such as home raising, retrofitting with resilient design or rebuilding, the Feasibility Assessment and Development Approval process – applying for a Resilient Measures Grant, and The Relocation Journey’s key stages, such as Site Access Agreements.

The expo has also scheduled breakout sessions on resilient measures, development approval processes and relocation.

Fifteen-minute one-on-one appointments with a Council Officer or a Resilient Homes Program team member will be available.

The NSW Reconstruction Authority does not endorse businesses offering flood-resilient works or relocation services and encourages homeowners to make their own assessments.

The Lismore and Ballina councils’ expo will be held on Thursday, March 13, from 4 pm to 7 pm at Invercauld House in Goonellabah.

In Tweed, homeowners can attend the Tweed Shire Council Auditorium on Monday, March 24.
