RESONATOR Music has reopened in Ballina with a renewed focus on music education, performance, and community support, celebrated with a launch event last week.

More than 150 people turned out for live performances, giveaways, food and a tour of the upgraded studio space.

Owner Adam Biggs said it was a fantastic night.

“The artists had all agreed to pop up for a couple of songs each, but I think most of them ended up playing a minimum half-hour set,” Biggs said.

“The feedback from the community was brilliant about the potential for the shows and clinics in the new space, so many enquiries about the new studios upstairs, and the potential for the music community around it.”

The revamped “Resonator 2.0” now includes a dedicated education officer, Chloe West.

“Chloe manages our education liaison and will help the students and teachers at Resonator, including developing further programs and opportunities through the store,” Biggs said.

“She is also employed as a dedicated school liaison to stay in touch with the schools in the region, ensure they have what they need, and keep up with repairs, hires, teacher and student training and in-school tuition needs. She’s ace.”

In addition to running workshops and boot camps, offering rehearsal and recording space, and supporting artists of all levels, Biggs launched a new fundraising initiative on the night — the David Dollery Legacy Fund.

“It’s aimed at fundraising to support the maintenance and purchase of musical equipment for local schools if they don’t have the funds to keep gear working,” he said.

“We raffled off a guitar on the night, and between that and a few other things, we raised about $1000, which is a great start.”
