THE TWEED Seniors Festival is gearing up for preparations for next year’s event, which runs from March 3-26.

The 2025 theme of ‘A Time to Shine’ celebrates older people’s roles and contributions to the community. The Tweed event is part of the New South Wales Seniors Festival, the largest of its kind in the southern hemisphere.

The NSW Seniors Achievement Awards program is also run as part of the NSW Seniors Festival. The Tweed Local Achievement Awards recognise seniors who help make the community a diverse, active, and inspiring place to live.

Each year a diverse program of events and entertainment offers a wide variety of activities for all senior life stages, ages, and abilities. There’s something for everyone, from informative talks and morning and afternoon teas, to comedy, music and singing performances, creative workshops, healthy ageing, well-being sessions, and more.

Each year, the Tweed Seniors Festival Working Party supports the festival, which comprises a group of dedicated volunteers who work to bring the event to life.

The Council is seeking community volunteers to join the working party, a crucial part of the festival’s success. Community involvement in planning and running the festival is essential.

Expression of interest forms are available from Council service desks in Murwillumbah or Tweed Heads, and applications close on Friday, September 20.
