Lismore’s Forgotten Arts Fair returns in 2024 at the Djanbung Gardens, home to the Permaculture College of Australia in Nimbin.<\/p>\n

The annual event hosts a wide range of events and workshops exploring precious traditions and ancient skills. Long “forgotten” arts and talents are increasingly popular, and the festival aims to inspire and inform potential artisans and craftspeople with creative life skills.<\/p>\n

From blacksmithing to Viking crafts, Lismore’s Forgotten Arts Fair offers diverse workshops and events. Whether interested in metal crafts, natural building, or food traditions, there is something for everyone. Textile skills such as spinning and basket weaving are also part of the lineup, ensuring a rich and varied experience for all attendees.<\/p>\n

The Market on the Meadow will showcase demonstrations and diverse craft and artisanal stalls in the Celtic Grove. Sofia Fletcher, Ren & Friends Ensemble, and the Irish Uiilleann piper Breandan an Piobaire will provide live entertainment.<\/p>\n

Djanbung Gardens is globally renowned as one of permaculture’s leading education and demonstration sites and celebrated its 30th anniversary earlier this year. The non-profit organisation specialises in high-level training and community education in permaculture, earth stewardship and sustainable practices. The gardens host guided and self-guided tours for visitors and are open to the public on Wednesdays and Saturdays from 10am to 3pm.<\/p>\n

The fair is a family friendly event and offers a range of activities for all ages and interests. Food and drinks will be available for purchase from the Djanbung Cafe and food stalls, and entry is by donation with a recommended minimum of $5-10 for a family.<\/p>\n

Organisers encourage community members with skills in a forgotten art they would share to contact them via the website.<\/p>\n
