A PROJECT to build a tiny home is reaping huge rewards for the students involved.<\/p>\n
The Tiny Homes @ Lismore High Project is a collaboration between RIEP (Regional Industry Education Partnerships) and Lismore High, which sees students and staff, with advice from local industry professionals, build a tiny home to lock-up stage and then auction.<\/p>\n
Twelve Lismore High students applied to be part of the project team at the start of the year and four staff are supporting them during the build.<\/p>\n
Principal Chris Williams said: “The Tiny Homes @ Lismore High project runs one day per week at school and it is wonderful to see students learning industry-relevant skills and working with local tradies to create this amazing tiny home”.<\/p>\n
RIEP has funded the materials to build the project and staff at Lismore High ensure that an authentic learning environment of building a tiny home is maintained through regular contact with and support from local businesses involved in the building industry.<\/p>\n
“We are grateful to RIEP for our initial funding for the tiny homes project and our dedicated staff and local business community and tradies, along with staff from RASE (Rivers Academy STEM Excellence), who have been so generous with their time and support of the project and our students gain so much from working with them”, Mr Williams said.<\/p>\n
The students involved in the Tiny Homes @ Lismore High Project will work together for the rest of the year on the internal design and fit-out.<\/p>\n
The tiny home will be auctioned towards the end of the year to provide funds for the project to continue in 2025, allowing even more students to engage with this innovative, real-world learning opportunity.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
