STOKERS Siding will host an open-air concert celebrating the golden era of orchestral swing on Sunday, September 29.<\/p>\n

Presented by Music in the Meadow, Swing and Swoon will feature classics of the 1930s and 1940s performed by the Caldera Chamber Ensemble, led by conductor Barry Singh.<\/p>\n

This will be the second event in the series at Stokers, following the success of Serenades of Spring in 2023.<\/p>\n

The toe-tapping program includes iconic tunes from Glenn Miller and Edith Piaf and features such songs as In the Mood, Moonlight Serenade, Tuxedo Junction, Non, je ne regrette rien and La vie en rose.<\/p>\n

In nature under the spring skies, the immersive event also has a costume element.<\/p>\n

Organisers encourage concertgoers to ‘dress up to the nines’ in their 30s and 40s regalia as the Singh-led ensemble serenades them.<\/p>\n

Singh founded the Northern Rivers Symphony Orchestra and was its artistic director and conductor until 2012.<\/p>\n

He is a recipient of The Orchestras of Australia Network Award (TOAN) for fostering excellence in an orchestra in a regional area.<\/p>\n

His journey with the NRSO was featured twice on ABC’s Australian Story (Mr Singh’s Opus and A Night Like This).<\/p>\n

Stokers Siding Public School gates will open at 1 pm for a 2.30 pm concert start.<\/p>\n

The concert will be held in the school fields, and the audience is asked to bring a picnic meal, rugs, chairs, and umbrellas.<\/p>\n
