BALLINA Shire Council is inviting the community to contribute to a draft streetscape master plan for Newrybar.<\/p>\n

The study area for the master plan will focus on the streetscape in the centre, which the Council will further develop with community consultation towards a future roadmap for the area.<\/p>\n

Established in the 1880s, the appealing hamlet is one of the earliest colonial settlements in the shire and the surrounding region.<\/p>\n

Ballina Council Landscape Architect Sheryn Da-Re said she looked forward to hearing input from local residents.<\/p>\n

“We understand the community values the quiet rural atmosphere and heritage beauty of Newrybar,” she said.<\/p>\n

“We want to retain this, but there are some improvements that could be made.<\/p>\n

“We need residents and business operators to share their ideas, whether it’s opportunities to increase shade and amenity, improve road safety, support events, activations, public art or green spaces.”.<\/p>\n

Newrybar residents can give feedback in various ways, including an online survey and mapping their ideas onto the dedicated Your Say page.<\/p>\n

Council will host a two-part community design workshop on the evening of Monday, November 11, from 5.30 pm to 7.30 pm and the morning of Wednesday, November 13, from 7.30 am to 9 am.<\/p>\n

Funding still needs to be secured for the implementation of any improvements. The master plan, once completed, will resource the Council to seek the grants required to realise Newrybar’s rejuvenation.<\/p>\n

Submissions close on Monday, November 25 and the community can visit the online interactive map and survey until that date.<\/p>\n
