FOOD and beverage producers from throughout the Northern Rivers region will benefit from a $160 million initiative that will help them develop new ingredients, products and skills.<\/p>\n
More than 60 people gathered at Common People Brewing Co. in Bangalow for the announcement of the new agreement between Northern Rivers Food and the Food and Beverage Accelerator (FaBA) on Tuesday.<\/p>\n
FaBA is part of the Federal Government’s Trailblazer program that provides food and beverage manufacturers access to research teams, next-generation industry professionals, innovative equipment and pilot facilities.<\/p>\n
The funding will go towards research, innovation and training.<\/p>\n
Northern Rivers Food executive officer Lucy Ashley said the collaboration with FaBA will have far-reaching benefits for the organisation’s food and beverage production members, from start-ups to large regional businesses.<\/p>\n
“From assistance with developing new products and access to research and technology, to commercialisation support, training and collaborative opportunities, our local members will gain access to opportunities that will accelerate their success,” she said.<\/p>\n
FaBA director Dr Chris Browns said it had developed an innovative, integrated process to support businesses across the innovation pipeline \u2014 from new ideas to new ingredients, building capabilities to building commercial application \u2014 that helps lead to commercial success.<\/p>\n
“By working together, we will assist Norther Rivers Food’s members to thrive in the ever-evolving food and beverage manufacturing market,” he said.<\/p>\n
