Photo: SUPPLIED<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Tindley&#8217;s sweet and sensitive Lucinda Williams-esque sound quickly became compulsory listening for Australian country\/roots music fans. A much-loved local artist and lauded international songwriter, songs from the first of her seven albums, 5 Days, featured on the television series East of Everything and Bondi Rescue. Her subsequent work was critically acclaimed.<\/p>\n<p>Bell and Tindley&#8217;s distinctive voices combined in the 2018 release Going Out Clothes, a collaboration melding Bell&#8217;s folk\/Celtic balladry with Tindley&#8217;s folk\/country rhythms.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_104507\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-104507\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-104507\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/29\/2024\/11\/Goldengirl1_83792_tn.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"600\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-104507\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Golden Girl is a posthumous album featuring unreleased duets and solo recordings by Tindley, and new songs by Ash Bell and Lucie Thorne. Photo: SUPPLIED<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The result was a timeless folk\/roots mini-masterpiece of tough love and deep humanity.<\/p>\n<p>Thorne is also a long-time friend and collaborator, with 12 releases of her own.<\/p>\n<p>In 2022, she produced Tindley&#8217;s albums Greetings from Lake St Clair and Sara Tindley: Live at the Star Court Theatre.<\/p>\n<p>Thorne said the idea began with a four-track EP of new songs, Superpower and Golden Girl, alongside previously unreleased duets with Sara, Cowboy, and Little Bird, Gentle Bear.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038 \" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/29\/2024\/11\/sara-promo-2014_83703.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"399\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Sara Tindley wrote and recorded songs in the last year of her life which feature on Golden Girl. Photo: JACQUI JUDD<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;As we were putting this together, Sara&#8217;s partner Mark suggested we could include some of Sara&#8217;s demos,&#8221; she said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;When we listened back, we quickly realised we had a whole album on our hands. Sara&#8217;s demos were incredible. I don&#8217;t know anyone whose demos sound this good. That extraordinary way she has of singing straight into your heart.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;They are simple, unadulterated recordings that brim with her power and pathos.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Tindley lost her 10-year-long battle with breast cancer in January 2023, profoundly saddening the musical community.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_104508\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-104508\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-104508\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/29\/2024\/11\/Screenshot2024-10-28_92153_tn.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"500\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-104508\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Sara Tindley shoot for her album Wild and Unknown.
