{"id":103550,"date":"2024-12-12T13:00:00","date_gmt":"2024-12-12T02:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/tweedcoasttimes\/?p=103550"},"modified":"2024-12-11T17:15:14","modified_gmt":"2024-12-11T06:15:14","slug":"spin-into-the-festive-season-with-rides-food-and-fun","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/tweedcoasttimes\/living\/spin-into-the-festive-season-with-rides-food-and-fun\/","title":{"rendered":"Spin into the festive season with rides, food and fun"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>THE much-loved McGregor&#8217;s Family Carnival is returning to Brunswick Heads on December 14, with rides, games and character fun.<\/p>\n<p>The carnival is expected to run at Banner Park beside Simpsons Creek until mid-January.<\/p>\n<p>Ruby Nicolia, whose grandparents Noel and Betty McGregor founded the carnival in 1956, said there will be dodgem cars, super slides and a jumping castle.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We try to keep the carnival the same every year as it&#8217;s what people are used to, but in recent years we have introduced characters from TV shows and movies such as Paw Patrol and Minions that attend on certain nights,&#8221; she said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We also have a Christmas theme leading up to Christmas Eve where Santa hands out lollies and is available for photos.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038 \" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/29\/2024\/12\/Xavier-MillahandMcIl_34515.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"775\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Betty and Noel McGregor&#8217;s great-grandchildren Xavier, Millah and McIllroy with Paw Patrol characters at McGregor&#8217;s Family Carnival in Brunswick Heads. Photo: SUPPLIED<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We have also created a Letters to Santa mailbox where children can write to Santa, and we choose letters on Christmas Day to receive free ride wristbands.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We also donate free ride wristbands to the town&#8217;s Community Christmas tree giving appeal, which is supported by local shops.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Nicolia said she loved seeing the same faces attend the carnival night after night and building relationships with the generations of families who attend the event.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We watch children grow up and have their own children they bring to the carnival, and being a huge family ourselves this means a lot to us to share the enjoyment.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The McGregor family is also a proud member of the Showman&#8217;s Guild of Australia and attend agricultural shows throughout Queensland each year.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>THE much-loved McGregor&#8217;s Family Carnival is returning to Brunswick Heads on December 14, with rides, games and character fun.
