{"id":103899,"date":"2024-12-30T04:00:00","date_gmt":"2024-12-29T17:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/tweedcoasttimes\/?p=103899"},"modified":"2024-12-18T20:18:09","modified_gmt":"2024-12-18T09:18:09","slug":"time-to-party","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/tweedcoasttimes\/news\/time-to-party\/","title":{"rendered":"Time to party"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>THE Tropical Fruits&#8217; New Year&#8217;s Eve festival, Galore &#8217;24, is expected to attract up to 2000 people to Lismore for an event celebrating the LGBTIQ+ community.<\/p>\n<p>The Lismore Showground will be home to up to 1000 campers starting December 28 and will host four dance parties, an arts festival, fireworks, and a recovery party over four days.<\/p>\n<p>The Tropical Fruits New Year&#8217;s Eve party has been held in Lismore for almost 30 years, becoming one of the biggest LGBTIQ+ events in regional Australia.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038 \" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/29\/2024\/12\/100039270002_15410.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"398\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Performers at Tropical Fruits New Year&#8217;s Eve Party 2023. Photo: SUPPLIED<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>A welcoming, inclusive atmosphere in the town contributed to the event&#8217;s ongoing popularity, Tropical Fruits general manager Alex Torney said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It shows an enduring dedication to ensuring the LGBTIQ+ community has this safe, inclusive and embracing environment in which to celebrate,&#8221; Torney said.<\/p>\n<p>While major music festivals had folded this year, they said the Tropical Fruits New Year&#8217;s Eve Festival was less at risk as it was smaller and less prone to ticket sale uncertainty.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038 \" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/29\/2024\/12\/5D3_1235-Enhanced-NR_15362.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Performers at Tropical Fruits New Year&#8217;s Eve Party 2023. Photo: SUPPLIED<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>However, Torney expected the event to sell out, as it usually does.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It&#8217;s looking positive. We have a large community of people who have been coming to the event and feel how special it is.
