Car and motorcycle clubs from across the country are expected to attend.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Last year we had more than 750 cars and 10,000 people come through the gate,&#8221; Ms Bailey said. &#8220;It was triple what we expected, but we had plenty of support and covered all of our costs thanks to some generous sponsors.&#8221;<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038 \" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/29\/2025\/01\/409100551_7900582831_16004.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"800\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Car lovers can rejoice with a selection of vehicles at the meet. Photo: Supplied.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The event, a major fundraiser for the Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service support group in Ballina Shire, began during the COVID-19 pandemic with backing from the Lennox Head Machinery Car Club.<\/p>\n<p>Ms Bailey, who is also president of the helicopter support group, said interest in car restoration has surged in recent years.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Lots of people have a passion for restoring old cars, and we&#8217;ve got an event where the whole family can be involved,&#8221; she said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We get the kids involved with judging and have all sorts of prizes and competitions.&#8221;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>HUNDREDS of car enthusiasts are expected to gather at the Ballina Jockey Club for the North Coast Show N Shine swap meet on Sunday, February 23.
