A MUSICAL conversation with nature will illuminate Valentine’s Day in a brand new way with V\u00e9ronique Serret’s new album launch tour stopping in Murwillumbah on February 14.<\/p>\n

Inspired by Australian landscapes and dedicated to living and learning from the natural world, Migrating Bird bridges the gap between contemporary and classical in a profoundly resonant conversation with the natural world.<\/p>\n

Using her voice for the first time, the celebrated violinist said the songs are an offering to nature.<\/p>\n

Conceived during the COVID-19 pandemic years, Serret spent months on a property in Brookfield, Queensland, walking and listening in Mount Coot-tha Forest. Her refuge brought a deeper relationship with Mother Nature.<\/p>\n

The album and the concert are the result, and promise a night of deep listening.<\/p>\n

The violinist, vocalist and composer seems effortless in her cross classical and contemporary musicality.<\/p>\n

One of Australia’s most versatile musicians, she is equally at home on the concert hall platform as she is on the rock’n’roll stage.<\/p>\n

Serret is in demand as a leader, chamber musician, mentor and collaborative artist. She is known for her inclusive soundworld, flexibility, and willingness to collaborate across genres. She has worked extensively with the Bangarra Dance Theatre, the Australian Chamber Orchestra, the Sydney Dance Company and as concertmaster of the Darwin Symphony.<\/p>\n

She has played in bands with Archie Roach, been in residence with Laurie Anderson, performed at major festivals including Barunga, Garma, MoFo, WoMad and Woodford, and was the guest artist with Ohio band The Breeders’ 2024 Australian tour.<\/p>\n

Drummer and percussionist Richard Daniell joins bassist Sam Pankhurst to form the core trio. Special guest William Barton on the yidaki (didgeridoo) features in this rare musical experience in one of the Tweed’s most intimate and atmospheric venues.<\/p>\n
