LISMORE City Council is calling on residents to take advantage of its electronic waste voucher system.<\/p>\n
It offers one waste voucher per eligible property with a saving of $74.40.<\/p>\n
Council said a total of 5000 vouchers are available each financial year.<\/p>\n
About 416 are available each month, depending on how many have been redeemed.<\/p>\n
Once it has is issued, you have 30 days to take your waste to either Lismore Recycling & Recovery Centre or Nimbin Transfer Station.<\/p>\n
Batteries from embedded items can also be recycled for free at the Lismore centre.<\/p>\n
These include bluetooth speakers, headphones, electric toothbrushes, smart watches, vacuum cleaners and vapes.<\/p>\n
\u201cPlease sort your waste beforehand as much as possible \u2013 it will it be cheaper for you and enable Council to recycle items and keep more out of landfill,\u201d a council spokesperson said.<\/p>\n
\u201cIf you don\u2019t use your voucher within the 30 days, it will expire and you can apply again another time.\u201d<\/p>\n
The same rules apply for rental properties in the local government area.<\/p>\n
While Council encourages people to use the electronic system wherever possible, anyone without internet access can apply in person or over the phone on 6625 0500.<\/p>\n
Property owners need to supply a rates assessment number while people renting need a proof of tenancy agreement to apply.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
