PEOPLE with disabilities and hearing impairment are being invited to take part in a two-day dance and performance workshop at Tintenbar Hall on March 1 and 2.<\/p>\n

Sprung Dance Theatre artistic director Danielle Constance said the Tintenbar Open Doors intensive workshop offered a safe and supportive space for people to come and explore creative movement and make new friends.<\/p>\n

“Saturday has more of a theatre and performance focus and Sunday has more of a dance and movement focus,” she said.<\/p>\n

“We are a dance theatre company so we try to offer workshops and training that cover off both of those artistic forms.<\/p>\n

“Our workshops are guided by professional and practising artists, trained disability support workers and creative support workers.<\/p>\n

“It’s really fun and playful. Everyone is calling and making sounds and noises.<\/p>\n

“It’s a bit of a creative playground where everyone is having a go and joining in.”<\/p>\n

Constance said having accessible and inclusive spaces where people can come together and connect is extremely important, especially in regional areas where they can be hard to find.<\/p>\n

“We’re a disability and arts organisation so we’re bridging that gap and creating a connection to professional artists in the region,” she said.<\/p>\n

“Tintenbar Open Doors is a great first step into what we do and some of our other programs.<\/p>\n

“People with disabilities are often facing a lot of barriers in the community, so the more programs like this there are the more opportunities people have to create social connections and explore and experience things that people who don’t have disabilities can do in the community.”<\/p>\n
