JOURNALIST and proud Gamilaroi woman Brooke Boney will share stories from her life and career in All of It, her new collection of witty and heartfelt essays about love, loss and ambition.<\/p>\n

In conversation with award-winning Bundjalung and Kullilli writer, journalist and broadcaster Daniel Browning (Close to the Subject), the April 8 event at the Bangalow A&I Hall is presented by Byron Writers Festival.<\/p>\n

In the public eye for over a decade, first as a voice on Triple J and then as a face on The Today Show, Boney draws her audience into her world, writing with honesty, humour and empathy.<\/p>\n

From the downsides of having a public profile to the joys of owning dogs and to the various forms of love that make up a life, Boney explores how that love has been sustained through generations of colonisation and violence.<\/p>\n

Interrogating concerns that are part of being in one’s early thirties \u2014 fertility, ageing, career progression, and discovering what’s worth fighting for \u2014 the journalist mines her most personal stories yet.<\/p>\n

Browning is an award-winning writer, journalist, and radio broadcaster. He is currently ABC’s Indigenous radio editor and also presents The Art Show and Arts in 30 podcasts.<\/p>\n

His first book, Close to the Subject: Selected Works, won the 2024 Prime Minister’s Literary Award for Non-Fiction and the Indigenous Writing Prize at the Victorian Premier’s Literary Awards.<\/p>\n

The special event, which features two pillars of the national media landscape, will include an intimate discussion of life, love, work, and being an Indigenous journalist in Australia.<\/p>\n

Doors open at 5.30pm for the 6.30pm event with Yum Cha and bar available.<\/p>\n
