A TINY home built by Lismore High School students will go under the hammer next month, with proceeds helping to fund the school’s next construction project.<\/p>\n
The Tiny Homes at Lismore High Project was launched in 2024 to give students hands-on experience in building and design, guided by local industry professionals.<\/p>\n
Stage 5 students (Years 9 and 10) worked alongside builders, plumbers, electricians, cabinet makers and other trades to design and construct the home over the course of the year. Students dedicated one day each week to the build, learning trade skills and gaining real-world experience, while also developing teamwork, communication and project management skills.<\/p>\n
Lead teacher Dean French said the program had been supported by local tradespeople and businesses.<\/p>\n
“We are grateful to our dedicated staff, local business community, and tradies, who have been so generous with their time and support,” Mr French said.<\/p>\n
“Our students gain so much from working with them. This initiative has also given them the opportunity to connect with local professionals, potentially opening doors to apprenticeships and traineeships in a variety of trades.”<\/p>\n
Lifestyle Group, a local business involved in the project, said it was proud to support the program.<\/p>\n
The tiny home will be auctioned on April 3 at 4pm, with funds raised going toward the next stage of the initiative.<\/p>\n
