THIS Anzac Day, the National Day of Remembrance to honour Australian and New Zealand Army Corps (ANZAC) members and service personnel during World War I, commemorates the sacrifices of all Australians in service.<\/p>\n
Residents can attend one of many local services or pay their respects in other ways to remember the soldiers whose ideals of courage, endurance, and mateship remain relevant throughout the country today.<\/p>\n
The City of Lismore RSL Sub-Branch Anzac Day commemorations will honour veterans and the veteran community at several events next Friday.<\/p>\n
The Dawn Service at the Lismore Cenotaph at the Lismore Memorial Baths in Molesworth Street begins at 5 am, followed by the Anzac Breakfast at the Lismore City Bowling Club.<\/p>\n
The annual main march and wreath laying will commence at 9am from the ‘Old Post Office Corner’ on the corner of Magellan and Molesworth Streets. Participants will gather adjacent to Browns Creek Car Park at 8.30am.<\/p>\n
The march route will proceed along Molesworth St to the Lismore Cenotaph at the Memorial Baths, where the main Anzac Day service will be held.<\/p>\n
After the Dawn Service, the Lismore City Bowling Club will host breakfast for sub-branch members, veterans, and their families.<\/p>\n
A commemoration service will be held at the North Lismore Memorial at 7.45am.<\/p>\n
A service at McKees Hill Hall will begin at 4.20am to watch the Sydney Dawn Service, followed by the service and breakfast.<\/p>\n
Services will commemorate the fallen from Gallipoli and all other subsequent wars and deployments in which Australian Defence personnel have been involved, including recent theatres of Iraq and Afghanistan.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
