A NEW roadside caf\u00e9 serving organic, locally-sourced, homemade offerings has opened on the same road as Killen Falls at Brooklet.<\/p>\n

Sarah Bowen and Alec Baker opened Prairie Caf\u00e9 in their caravan in the garden of their property last month.<\/p>\n

The menu includes spelt flatbreads topped with seasonal ingredients, with Earth Cake by local naturopath The Secret Kitchen served on weekends.<\/p>\n

“We offer organic coffee by local roasters Beam, along with many other elixirs like cacao, matcha and adaptogenic,” Bowen said.<\/p>\n

Bowen, who has worked as a barista for 10 years, is originally from Melbourne while Alec is from the Central Coast. The couple decided to move to the Northern Rivers three years ago in search of a slower pace of life.<\/p>\n

“Alec is helping this dream of mine come to life, as his career is actually within commercial photography and the film making industry,” Bowen said.<\/p>\n

“Though having both our values lie within creating an awareness around where our food comes from, fuelling our bodies with goodness and bringing people together, Prairie feels like a fun meeting point for us.<\/p>\n

“We hope to create a space that feels connected to not only nature but to community too.”<\/p>\n

Bowen said the pair love the fact that the caf\u00e9 encourages people to spend time outdoors.<\/p>\n

“It’s a very exciting adventure for us and we have loved the beautiful moments already created over the past few weeks,” she said.<\/p>\n
