BOB Dylan’s legacy is under the spotlight with a homage to the great writer and poet at The Citadel on May 17.<\/p>\n

Featuring an exceptional lineup of NSW and Queensland cross-border singer-songwriters, each will offer their personal take on Dylan’s iconic songs, spanning his six decades of recording.<\/p>\n

Sunshine Coast-based musician Pat Tierney brings the tribute down south with his eclectic mix of players, paying homage to Dylan’s genius.<\/p>\n

“The events have been a huge success, and we wanted to bring the tradition down south and introduce it to new fans in NSW,” Tierney said.<\/p>\n

“It’s always been amazing to see how wide-ranging the crowd is, from die-hard fans to younger listeners discovering more of Dylan’s deep catalogue.<\/p>\n

“It just shows how universal his songs are.”<\/p>\n

The show I Shall Be Released<\/em> was first performed in 2012 and celebrates Dylan’s vast catalogue and the vibrant local music scene it spawned.<\/p>\n

The song was written in 1967 and released by The Band for its debut album, Music from Big Pink.<\/em><\/p>\n

Dylan recorded two versions in collaboration with The Band during the Basement Tapes<\/em> sessions in 1967 and then on 1991’s The Bootleg Series Volume I-III.<\/em><\/p>\n

The artist also recorded a second version with a significantly different arrangement and lyrics in 1971 on Bob Dylan’s Greatest Hits Volume II.<\/em><\/p>\n
