PAGE MP Kevin Hogan has secured a fifth term in office, defeating Labor’s Wendy Backhous in the federal election.<\/p>\n
He has represented the seat of Page since 2013.<\/p>\n
It was previously held by Labor’s Janelle Saffin, who is now the state MP for Lismore.<\/p>\n
Mr Hogan led Labor’s Wendy Backhous 60\u201340 in the two-party preferred count<\/p>\n
He pledged more than $1 million to rebuild Corndale Hall as part of the Coalition’s election commitments. It will now be up to the new government to decide whether to proceed with the funding.<\/p>\n
Surrounded by family and supporters, Mr Hogan said he planned to get straight back to work after his post-election party.<\/p>\n
“It is very humbling to be re-elected with an increase in my primary vote.<\/p>\n
I thank everyone for their continued support,” Mr Hogan said.<\/p>\n
“I acknowledge the other candidates, who were a great and interesting group of people, all reflecting our wonderfully diverse community.<\/p>\n
“To my family, Karen, Bridget, Sean and Ruby, and Rosie, your love and support sustains me in this role.<\/p>\n
“We have a world leading democracy, I wish the government well.<\/p>\n
