{"id":106892,"date":"2025-05-12T04:00:00","date_gmt":"2025-05-11T18:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/tweedcoasttimes\/?p=106892"},"modified":"2025-05-07T20:01:26","modified_gmt":"2025-05-07T10:01:26","slug":"council-develops-draft-plan-to-reshape-newrybar","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/tweedcoasttimes\/news\/council-develops-draft-plan-to-reshape-newrybar\/","title":{"rendered":"Council develops draft plan to reshape Newrybar"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A FOCUS on traffic movement and pedestrian safety has been highlighted in the draft streetscape master plan for Newrybar, developed by Ballina Shire Council.<\/p>\n<p>It is part of five key areas which aims to improve public spaces and keep the unique community feel in the village.<\/p>\n<p>Ballina council landscape architect Sheryn Da-Re said the community response was vital in the project.<\/p>\n<p>Council is calling for more community feedback as it prepares for the next stage of the plan.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;A key proposal is to make traffic on the Old Pacific Highway between Brooklet Road and Hinterland Way one way, which would create space for safer pedestrian movement, improved parking, more shade trees, and better public seating,&#8221; Ms Da-Re said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Council invites the community to view the Draft Master Plan, including diagrams and a list of the proposed improvements, so they can share their feedback.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We understand the community values the quiet rural atmosphere and heritage beauty of Newrybar.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We want to retain this, but there are some improvements that could be made.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>No funding or grants have been secured at this stage for implementation of any works.<\/p>\n<p>However once completed, the master plan will enable council to seek the funding required.<\/p>\n<p>Residents interested in providing feedback can attend council&#8217;s community workshop at Newrybar Community Hall on Monday, May 19.<\/p>\n<p>The meeting will run from 6pm-7.30pm, while submissions can be made online at <a href=\"http:\/\/yoursayballina.com.au\/newrybar-streetscape-master-plan\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">yoursayballina.com.au\/newrybar-streetscape-master-plan<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Submissions close Wednesday, May 21.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A FOCUS on traffic movement and pedestrian safety has been highlighted in the draft streetscape master plan for Newrybar, developed by Ballina Shire Council.
