FOUR Lismore bus stops will be upgraded under a $1.6 million NSW Government scheme to improve accessibility and safety in regional transport.<\/p>\n
Lismore City Council will receive funding for upgrades at Perradenya Way in Caniaba, the James Road and Ballina Road intersection, the Lismore Railway Station, and Allsop Park in Nimbin.<\/p>\n
Member for Lismore Janelle Saffin welcomed the funding.<\/p>\n
“By upgrading bus stop infrastructure in Lismore, Goonellabah, Caniaba and Nimbin, we are encouraging<\/p>\n
greater use of public transport, strengthening regional connectivity and making services more inclusive and accessible,” Saffin said.<\/p>\n
“These improvements will make a real difference for those who rely on buses, ensuring they can have safer and more comfortable journeys.”<\/p>\n
Statewide, the $1.6 million will fund 153 projects, including the<\/p>\n
installation of seating and shelters, improved signage and timetable boards, security lighting, and enhanced accessibility.<\/p>\n
The Minister for Regional Transport and Roads, Jenny Aitchison, said the Government was committed to enhancing regional bus stops and shelters for all passengers.<\/p>\n
“This investment will make it easier for people with disabilities, parents with prams, and older residents to access work, school, healthcare, and social opportunities,” Aitchison said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
