CELEBRITY chef Darren Robertson will headline live cooking demonstrations during the final two days of Primex at the Richmond Valley Events Centre in Casino.<\/p>\n

The Byron Bay-based chef and media personality is known for his farm-to-table approach and will be cooking live from 11.30am to 1.30pm on Friday, May 16 and Saturday, May 17.<\/p>\n

He’ll share low-waste recipes that celebrate local producers, while offering practical tips and his trademark creative flair.<\/p>\n

Primex is a major sustainable farming and primary industries exhibition, showcasing innovations, local produce, and expert agriculture panels.<\/p>\n

Event organiser Bruce Wright said this year’s theme, Our Future in Farming, would cover a wide range of topics.<\/p>\n

“Our theme sounds simple but covers a host of topics and exhibits \u2014 from the latest in agricultural technology through to future planning in the Northern Rivers area,” he said.<\/p>\n

“This is a critical time for the food and fibre producers of this diverse agricultural area, often undervalued by governments, to develop a cohesive voice.”<\/p>\n

Established in 1985, the family-owned Primex field days have grown to reflect one of Australia’s most diverse farming regions, with a farm gate value of more than $1 billion per year, according to the Department of Primary Industries.<\/p>\n

Primex now hosts more than 430 exhibitors, 1200 suppliers and 30,000 visitors, while engaging with 30 grower organisations and groups across northern NSW. The event generates between $45 million and $70 million in sales annually, injecting an estimated $2.5\u20133.5 million into the local economy.<\/p>\n

Saturday features several signature events, including a soil science and sustainability demonstration presented by Southern Cross University.<\/p>\n

There will also be live performances from the Wildlife Twins, music, and the Dinky Di Train, which will stop at multiple locations across the venue.<\/p>\n
