CREATIVE Caldera is hosting an event to explore what the community wants from its creative culture and to invite input into a new festival.<\/p>\n

Artists, creative practitioners and community members are invited to attend the discussion at Ventura Brewing on May 24.<\/p>\n

The recently renewed leadership of the non-profit arts organisation is working to enrich the cultural and arts landscape of the Tweed.<\/p>\n

The organisation, known for the Murwillumbah Art Trail, has a new president, Kirsten Devitt, who said the reinvigorated team is ready to work towards its vision.<\/p>\n

“We want to strengthen the region’s artists’ community by supporting and promoting artists, projects and events in the Tweed Shire,” she said.<\/p>\n

“We feel like there is a rally call right now to ignite and support our creative communities, and we can’t wait to be a part of it.”<\/p>\n

A new biennial festival event will debut in the winter of 2026 with dates to be announced.<\/p>\n

Building on the Trail’s success, Lava aims to celebrate the creativity and talent of local and regional artists and expand its scope to include innovative and immersive arts experiences.<\/p>\n

“It’s an incredibly exciting time in the Tweed Shire,” Devitt said.<\/p>\n

“Not only are there fabulous initiatives such as the arts activation in the CBD by Business Murwillumbah, which encourages art in our everyday life, but the data from the brilliant, newly released report by Arts Northern Rivers Who We Are report tells us overwhelmingly that people want to see more of the arts in every facet of Tweed life.<\/p>\n

“We would love artists from all disciplines in the area to come along and help us understand what they would like to see happen in their creative communities.<\/p>\n

“We could dream up projects til the cows come home, but without talking to the people that matter and getting their feedback, we might miss that mark. We want to get things right.”<\/p>\n

Artists and interested community members can also contribute via an online survey.<\/p>\n
