TWEED Shire Council has won a Silver Australasian Reporting Award for its 2023\u201324 Annual Report \u2014 the second year in a row it has received the honour.<\/p>\n
Celebrating its 75th anniversary, the awards program sets the benchmark for best practice in transparent, clear and timely reporting.<\/p>\n
It recognises excellence across the public, private and not-for-profit sectors throughout the Asia-Pacific.<\/p>\n
Council director of corporate services Michael Chorlton said the award reflected the organisation’s focus on good governance and community engagement.<\/p>\n
“Our Annual Report was judged on how clear, comprehensive and well-structured it was,” Chorlton said.<\/p>\n
“This recognition shows we’re on the right track when it comes to transparency, accountability and sharing what we’ve achieved with our community.”<\/p>\n
The annual report outlines council’s performance over the past financial year, including progress towards the Tweed’s long-term Community Strategic Plan.<\/p>\n
It also includes updates on financial performance, service delivery and key projects, as required under state reporting rules.<\/p>\n
Highlights from the assessed financial year included helping to shape flood resilience at Tweed Heads South and Banora Point through the Tweed Heads South Levee and Drainage Study, as well as developing the Tweed Coast and Estuaries Coastal Management Program.<\/p>\n
The report also noted council’s focus on creating more opportunities for housing and the launch of the 2024 Tweed Seniors Festival.<\/p>\n
“This Silver Award is not just a mark of technical excellence; it shows we are effectively communicating<\/p>\n
how we are delivering on our Community Strategic Plan and making progress towards the long-term aspirations of our community,” Chorlton said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
