THE Dingo Advisory Council will host a free information workshop in Goonellabah this month, offering practical advice on protecting pets and livestock while highlighting the ecological value of native dingoes.<\/p>\n

The Northern Rivers Dingo Information Workshop will be held at the Goonellabah Community Centre on Saturday, June 21.<\/p>\n

The event will cover non-lethal protection strategies, pest management, dingo behaviour, and the species’ cultural and environmental importance.<\/p>\n

“Whether you’re a landholder, pet owner, or simply interested in local wildlife, this is a wonderful opportunity to deepen your understanding and connect with others in the region,” a council spokesperson said.<\/p>\n

“Learn how to keep your pets safe at home and protect livestock without harming native predators. There will be plenty of time for community questions and discussion.”<\/p>\n

Key speakers include animal ecologist Dr Linda van Bommel, who specialises in non-lethal predator control and the use of guardian dogs to protect stock and threatened species.<\/p>\n

Canine trainer Zeph Thomson, who has worked extensively with wild and captive-bred dingoes, will also share insights into dingo behaviour and management.<\/p>\n

The workshop is free, but registration is required.<\/p>\n
