NSW Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development acting director of fisheries management Bryan Van Der Walt said clubs can also use the funds to purchase items for the day.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The fishing packages includes rod and reel sets, giveaways, and advisory information&#8221; Mr Van Der Walt said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Clubs can purchase items like fishing gear, bait, food and non-alcoholic beverages and equipment hire to assist in hosting their own event.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Gone Fishing Day is a highlight of the recreational fishing year, promoting the benefits of this fun, healthy activity to the whole community.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Last year, anglers of all ages took part with the Richmond River a hive of activity.<\/p>\n<p>More than 100 fishing clubs across the state benefited from financial assistance.<\/p>\n<p>The fishing events and activities are supported by the Fisheries and the Recreational Fishing Trust.<\/p>\n<p>The Day aims to acknowledges the positive impact the industry has on our economy and communities.<\/p>\n<p>Applications for grants and fishing packages close on Thursday, July 24.<\/p>\n<p>The fishing day will be held on Sunday, October 19 with information on how to apply for funding at <a href=\"http:\/\/dpi.nsw.gov.au\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">dpi.nsw.gov.au<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>GRANTS are now open with Ballina one of the selected regional venues to host the annual Gone Fishing Day in October.
