THE state government will spend $110 million to revitalise Crown land and public spaces across NSW, including upgrades to neglected fire trails and community facilities.<\/p>\n
The projects include $12.4 million to repair and upgrade fire trails on Crown land and adjoining private land, providing safer access for firefighters during bushfires.<\/p>\n
Member for Lismore Janelle Saffin said the fire trails had been neglected for a decade.<\/p>\n
“Now we can start some repair and restoration work to support our firies and give better protection from future bushfires,” she said.<\/p>\n
“Crown Lands undertakes statewide helicopter inspections to keep the network in good shape.<\/p>\n
“The Minns Government has identified a number of critical works required across Crown land and public spaces, which will be funded by a Budget allocation totalling $110 million.”<\/p>\n
Other projects potentially benefiting the region include $7.1 million to maintain public halls, sports facilities, walking trails, bridges and other public infrastructure on Crown land.<\/p>\n
A further $6 million will fund the remediation of contaminated Crown land, including the restoration of former cattle dip sites, mines, and industrial sites, as well as the control of invasive species such as feral foxes, rabbits, and noxious and invasive weeds.<\/p>\n
Minister for Planning and Public Spaces Paul Scully said the importance of green open spaces and active transport links could not be underestimated.<\/p>\n
“NSW public spaces attract millions of visitors each year for recreation, sport, community and cultural activities, so it is essential we invest so these beloved spaces can continue to serve our community for decades to come,” Scully said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
