{"id":107952,"date":"2025-06-23T04:00:00","date_gmt":"2025-06-22T18:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/tweedcoasttimes\/?p=107952"},"modified":"2025-06-18T21:30:01","modified_gmt":"2025-06-18T11:30:01","slug":"a-million-dollar-boost-for-multicultural-events","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/tweedcoasttimes\/news\/a-million-dollar-boost-for-multicultural-events\/","title":{"rendered":"A million dollar boost for multicultural events"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>THE NSW Government will provide one million dollars in funding for multicultural festivals and events this year.<\/p>\n<p>Member for Lismore, Janelle Saffin, is encouraging eligible local groups and event organisers to apply for their share of $5,000 to $20,000\u00a0from the state government funding.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The Northern Rivers region loves festivals and events which bring local communities together and which foster social inclusion and harmony,&#8221; Saffin said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This statewide program supports hundreds of cultural celebrations, food festivals, music programs and entertainment events each year.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The Multicultural NSW Stronger Together Grants Program supports multicultural festivals and events across NSW, encouraging multicultural and multifaith community groups to produce events that celebrate and embrace the state&#8217;s vibrant cultural diversity.<\/p>\n<p>Eligible festivals and events would promote cross-cultural awareness and understanding, engage a broad cross-section of the NSW community, celebrate, preserve, and share traditions and be accessible to the general public.<\/p>\n<p>The first round of funding offers $500,000 for eligible community groups planning festivals and events between September 1 and March 31.<\/p>\n<p>A second round of funding will be announced later this year for events running from April to September 2026.<\/p>\n<p>Applications for Round One close on Monday, July 7, at 5 pm.<\/p>\n<p>For more information or to apply, visit <a href=\"http:\/\/multicultural.nsw.gov.au\/stronger-together-events-festivals\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">multicultural.nsw.gov.au\/stronger-together-events-festivals<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>THE NSW Government will provide one million dollars in funding for multicultural festivals and events this year.
