THE Windmill Trust Scholarship is open to regional NSW artists for grants of up to $10,000.<\/p>\n

Individuals or groups can apply for funding to assist with the cost of exhibiting work, professional development or independent artistic research or practice for work from September onwards.<\/p>\n

Applicants must be a regional resident of NSW for at least five years and be practitioners undertaking the project.<\/p>\n

Since its inception in 1997, the Windmill Trust Scholarship has provided over $160,000 to support the artistic practices and professional development of regional artists.<\/p>\n

Lismore-based Wiradjuri artist Karla Dickens used the 2024 grant to mount the exhibition of her installation, Rise and Fall, at Wollongong Art Gallery.<\/p>\n

The multidisciplinary artist interrogates aspects of the nation’s history, providing provocative reflections on Australian culture as well as exploring religion, race, sexuality, the environment and motherhood.<\/p>\n

A National Arts School graduate, the Goonellabah resident has exhibited extensively nationally and internationally, with her works represented in significant public collections.<\/p>\n

Rise and Fall responded to the climate catastrophe and devastating floods of February 2022 through sculpture, photography, and video, reimagining mermaid mythologies with a post-apocalyptic twist.<\/p>\n

The trust supports artists in various career stages and aspects, including professional development, exhibiting and presenting work in new ways.<\/p>\n

Eligible costs include studio rental, materials, labour, framing, space rental, promotion, artist fees, freight, installation, and documentation.<\/p>\n

Regional Arts NSW is hosting a free online Q&A workshop for applicants to ask questions about eligibility, application, and budget and receive grant writing support on June 30 at 4 pm.<\/p>\n

Scholarship applications close at midnight on Monday, July 7.<\/p>\n
