THE New South Wales Regional Event Fund has granted Gravel n Granite in Tenterfield $20,000 to promote next year\u2019s race.<\/p>\n

The Tenterfield Saddlers Mountain Bike Club has secured the funds for the 2026 event, scheduled for May 16-17.<\/p>\n

Lismore MP Janelle Saffin congratulated Saddlers Club president Michael Lieberman and his organising committee, including Caitlin Reid, as well as the 70 volunteers who made the 2025 event a success.<\/p>\n

\u201cGravel n Granite is one of Tenterfield\u2019s premier regional events and makes a valuable contribution to the town and shire\u2019s visitor economy,\u201d Saffin said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis year, the event brought over 1,000 people, including 500 riders, to Tenterfield and contributed over $667,000 to the local economy.<\/p>\n

Sixty-one recipients of the 2025-26 Regional Event Fund comprise more than $1.3 million in funding.<\/p>\n

The program provides grants of up to $50,000 to support community events, marketing and PR campaigns, as well as the hiring of infrastructure and equipment.<\/p>\n

The three adventure rides comprise 38 km, 66 km and 91 km tracks, beginning at the Tenterfield Showgrounds and following Mount Lindesay Road and Black Stump Road into the state forest and national park.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis event plays a vital role in supporting local tourism, hospitality, retail and accommodation providers, particularly as it is held outside of the traditional peak season,\u201d Saffin said.<\/p>\n
