{"id":108425,"date":"2025-07-12T04:00:00","date_gmt":"2025-07-11T18:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/tweedcoasttimes\/?p=108425"},"modified":"2025-07-09T19:54:16","modified_gmt":"2025-07-09T09:54:16","slug":"new-laneway-festival-to-light-up-the-streets-of-lismore","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/tweedcoasttimes\/news\/new-laneway-festival-to-light-up-the-streets-of-lismore\/","title":{"rendered":"New laneway festival to light up the streets of Lismore"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A NEW arts festival will light up the laneways of Lismore with music, markets and food trucks as it celebrates local and national talent.<\/p>\n<p>The Laneways of Lismore Arts Festival (LOLA) will be held on Friday, August 23, on Carrington Street, with a lineup that includes acclaimed musician Mitch Tambo.<\/p>\n<p>The event will feature art installations, live performances, lights, food trucks and market stalls, transforming Lismore&#8217;s city centre into a cultural hub.<\/p>\n<p>Lismore City mayor Steve Krieg said the festival was a welcome addition to the region&#8217;s winter calendar.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Lismore has always been known for its vibrant, creative community and its ability to deliver standout events that celebrate who we are,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This event will activate our city centre and showcase Lismore as a vibrant destination. I&#8217;m really looking forward to seeing LOLA grow into a staple of Lismore&#8217;s annual event calendar.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Other performers include the FLO DJs, and Melbourne indie favourites Cool Sounds and Eggy.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_113757\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-113757\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-113757\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/29\/2025\/07\/471521307_1016279687_67729.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-113757\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Artist Paul McNeil will have his work on display at the LOLA: Laneways of Lismore Arts Festival. Photo: SUPPLIED<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Visual artists from Byron Bay, including Marty Baptist and Paul McNeil, will also be part of the program.<\/p>\n<p>Baptist has exhibited his work globally since 2003, with a focus on skate and street culture. His art is held in private and institutional collections around the world.<\/p>\n<p>McNeil is renowned for his work spanning surf culture, music and politics, and has collaborated with bands including The Rolling Stones and Sonic Youth.<\/p>\n<p>The festival is funded by Lismore City Council and the Australian Government&#8217;s Regional Arts Fund.<\/p>\n<p>Page MP Kevin Hogan said the festival would deliver a welcome boost to local businesses and the broader economy.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Events like LOLA are not just great community celebrations, they&#8217;re economic drivers,&#8221; Mr Hogan said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;They bring people into our CBD, fill our cafes, bars and shops, and create opportunities for local artists, performers and small business owners.
