LISMORE will host an A-League exhibition match for the first time in over a decade when the Newcastle Jets take on the Brisbane Roar at Crozier Field on Saturday, August 9.<\/p>\n
The Newcastle men\u2019s side is visiting Lismore, Port Macquarie and Taree as part of the Jets:TOUR to support flood-affected parts of the state.<\/p>\n
They will host clinics, school visits, engage with clubs and run an open training session to coincide with the game.<\/p>\n
Lismore previously hosted an A-League preseason match between the Central Coast and Melbourne City at Oakes Oval in 2014<\/p>\n
It drew a crowd of just over 4000 people and is among one of the highest attended events at the venue.<\/p>\n
Lismore mayor Steve Krieg said it was a thrill to bring professional sport teams back to the region.<\/p>\n
\u201cLismore is a proud sporting community and hosting this A-League preseason match is a fantastic opportunity to showcase our world-class facilities and the incredible passion of our local football fans,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019re grateful to the Newcastle Jets for including Lismore in their 2025 tour. It\u2019s events like this that put our city on the map and bring our community together to enjoy top-class football.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Jets have a new-look side with head coach Mark Milligan at the helm alongside star signings including Japanese international Kota Mizunuma and Scottish Premiership defender Joe Shaughnessy.<\/p>\n
Newcastle Jets General Manager of Customer and Community Matt Starr said the tour is hosted by Greater Bank and is an opportunity to engage with and support regional communities.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe have been very clear in our desire to connect and engage with the broader Jets community and we\u2019re really looking forward to taking our club and programs to regional centres along the north coast as we expand our reach and support across the state,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cLismore, Taree and Port Macquarie have each been significantly affected by floods this year and we hope that this tour can help to give back to our fans and bring the communities together as they rebuild.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are thrilled to have Greater Bank on board as our major community partner for another season. They have been a fantastic champion of the club, and we would not be able to deliver these tours or clinics without their support.\u201d<\/p>\n
The match will be played at 3pm with a clinic and opening training session at Oakes Oval on the Friday.<\/p>\n
