{"id":108786,"date":"2025-07-28T04:00:00","date_gmt":"2025-07-27T18:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/tweedcoasttimes\/?p=108786"},"modified":"2025-07-24T09:56:27","modified_gmt":"2025-07-23T23:56:27","slug":"registrations-open-for-2025-prime-ministers-spelling-bee","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/tweedcoasttimes\/news\/registrations-open-for-2025-prime-ministers-spelling-bee\/","title":{"rendered":"Registrations open for 2025 Prime Minister&#8217;s Spelling Bee"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>REGISTRATIONS are now open for the 2025 Prime Minister&#8217;s Spelling Bee, a free online competition for students in Years 3 to 8 across Australia.<\/p>\n<p>The event tests students on 30 words, with 25 seconds to spell each word, ranking them on accuracy and speed.<\/p>\n<p>There are three age categories: Years 3\u20134, Years 5\u20136 and Years 7\u20138.<\/p>\n<p>Local MP Justine Elliot said the competition was a fun way to engage students with language.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Spelling bees are a fun way for our children to build their confidence and learn to love words and language,&#8221; she said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This competition gives students from Years 3 to 8 the chance to test their spelling skills and win great prizes.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Each of the three national winners, one from each age group, will receive a return flight to Canberra with a parent or guardian, one night&#8217;s accommodation, a new iPad, a $250 pack of books from HarperCollins and a national winner&#8217;s certificate.<\/p>\n<p>The school of each national winner will also receive a $1,000 voucher to spend on books, technology or other supplies.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I encourage all local schools and students to take part in the 2025 Prime Minister&#8217;s Spelling Bee,&#8221; Elliot said.<\/p>\n<p>More information is available at <a href=\"http:\/\/spelling-bee.com.au\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">spelling-bee.com.au<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: right;\"><strong>BY CHLOE WILLIAMS<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>REGISTRATIONS are now open for the 2025 Prime Minister&#8217;s Spelling Bee, a free online competition for students in Years 3 to 8 across Australia.
