THE Far North Coast Law Society has donated $5,000 to Fletcher Street Cottage in Byron Bay.<\/p>\n
The community service, run by the Byron Community Centre, supports people experiencing insecure housing, financial stress or legal problems. The donation will help provide meals, showers, laundry access, legal aid and caseworker support to more than 900 people each month.<\/p>\n
Yasmin Dulley, principal solicitor and director at Byron Family Law and chair of the Far North Coast Law Society, said the donation showed the legal community’s commitment to justice and care.<\/p>\n
“Lawyers often work behind the scenes to uphold justice, but this was a chance for us to show up visibly and meaningfully for our community,” Dulley said. “Fletcher Street Cottage provides an essential lifeline for vulnerable people, and we’re proud to support the incredible team that holds this service together.”<\/p>\n
Manager Damian Farrell said having legal advice onsite was critical for those facing serious legal challenges.<\/p>\n
“Many of the people we support are dealing with matters that can have life-changing consequences, from tenancy disputes to family law,” Farrell said. “Having legal professionals here at Fletcher Street Cottage means people can access help in a safe, familiar environment without the barriers that often prevent them from seeking advice.”<\/p>\n
