WORK has begun on a $400,000 upgrade of the Terranora Creek foreshore to improve access, safety and usability of the public parklands.<\/p>\n

Funded by the NSW Government, the project will include new rock walls to prevent erosion, two new sets of stairs and a pelican perch for seabirds.<\/p>\n

Council’s director of sustainable communities and environment, Naomi Searle, said it was important that all residents could enjoy the foreshore.<\/p>\n

“Ensuring that parklands are safe, usable and inclusive is especially important in foreshore areas,” Searle said.<\/p>\n

“As well as removing unapproved structures, our teams are installing rock walls so erosion is prevented and the public can safely enjoy this beautiful part of Tweed’s waterways.”<\/p>\n

Council says broken and dilapidated structures built without approval over time pose a safety risk and are being removed as part of the works.<\/p>\n

Nearby residents were consulted through letterbox drops, meetings, workshops and online feedback.<\/p>\n

Construction is expected to take around eight weeks, with work hours between 7am and 5pm weekdays and 7am and 1pm on Saturdays. Access to the park will be limited during this time.<\/p>\n
