THE Big Bike Film Night 2025 is returning to the region with two presentations in Brunswick Heads on August 28 and Lismore on August 30, as part of its annual Australian national tour.<\/p>\n

Featuring eight inspiring short films, the night aims to celebrate cycling in all its shapes and forms and to present the best cycling short films from around the world.<\/p>\n

Curator and founder Brett Cotter said the highly successful New Zealand-based event had been a labour of love for 11 years.<\/p>\n

“I’ve been showcasing that a bike is more than two wheels, it can be whatever you want to be,” Cotter said.<\/p>\n

“And relentlessly pursuing the goal of finding the best cycling short films from around the world for our audiences, which celebrate the fun, adventure, and inspiration that cycling enables.<\/p>\n

“It has everything a cycle-centric audience could want \u2013 action, drama, humour, and plenty of inspiration.”<\/p>\n

Included in the 2025 selection is Gravel Mania, an exhilarating film redefining what is possible on a gravel bike on technically challenging terrain, and Type 2 Fun, an ode to the ride, not the finish line, that celebrates camaraderie and grit.<\/p>\n

Cycling Without Age from Denmark features the idea and non-profit organisation, which began in Copenhagen in 2012, now operating in 40 countries worldwide.<\/p>\n

The journey of compassion and community recounts the stories of pedal-powered rickshaw pilots and their elder passengers and explores the importance of feeling the wind in your hair at all stages of life’s journey.<\/p>\n

“These short films are a great reminder of why we love to ride our bikes; with stories that captivate us, stories that make us think, and most importantly of all \u2013 inspiring us to get out and ride,” Cotter said.<\/p>\n

“All celebrate the fun, adventure, and joy that cycling enables.”<\/p>\n
