MURWILLUMBAH’S Kinship Festival will celebrate its 10th anniversary on September 20 with a full day of cultural activities and family-friendly events.<\/p>\n

The festival aims to connect children and families to Country, culture and community, bringing together Indigenous families, locals and visitors for a shared celebration.<\/p>\n

This year’s program features a collaboration with the Makers and Finders Market, a giant sand art mural, language workshops, storytelling, a corroboree, live music, an Indigenous art market, children’s activities and a free community lunch.<\/p>\n

Festival organisers described the 10-year milestone as a celebration of a shared community journey.<\/p>\n

“We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to all the individuals and organisations who have contributed their time, energy, and love to create this beautiful festival where we all come together as family,” they said.<\/p>\n

Activities for young adults and teens include hip-hop writing workshops with JK-47, main-stage performance opportunities, art creation, badge making, 3-on-3 basketball, and a skate jam and workshops with Songlines Skateboards.<\/p>\n

“This year’s 10-year celebration promises to be a spectacular event, and we are excited to feature a flashmob that everyone can get involved with,” organisers said.<\/p>\n

“We invite you to be part of this joyous celebration. We are also seeking dance captains in each area to help guide the participants and make the event even more memorable.<\/p>\n

“In times of division, it’s more important than ever to come together and remember what really matters \u2013 community, culture, and family.”<\/p>\n
