	{"id":110265,"date":"2025-09-26T04:00:00","date_gmt":"2025-09-25T18:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/tweedcoasttimes\/?p=110265"},"modified":"2025-09-29T08:20:52","modified_gmt":"2025-09-28T22:20:52","slug":"secret-bar-opens-in-burringbar","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/tweedcoasttimes\/news\/secret-bar-opens-in-burringbar\/","title":{"rendered":"Secret bar opens in Burringbar"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A NEW cafe and speakeasy wine bar has opened in Burringbar, combining ethically sourced coffee by day with natural wines and a secret-entry bar by night.<\/p>\n<p>The dual concept pairs Pour Good cafe, run by Jack Deacon, with the Natural Wine Bar created by Bron Harrison.<\/p>\n<p>Guests can enter the bar through a vintage Smeg fridge door in a nod to classic speakeasy style.<\/p>\n<p>Harrison, who established the Natural Wine Shop four years ago, said she wanted to create a destination that encouraged people to explore.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The secret entry concept adds theatre to the experience, while our ethos of &#8216;drink better, drink less&#8217; guides everything we do,&#8221; she said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We believe that small amounts of quality alcohol can forge genuine connections.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I could originally do tastings, but people would often ask for a glass of wine and I&#8217;d have to turn them away.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_116809\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-116809\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-116809\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/29\/2025\/09\/8Q2A0807_47059.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-116809\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The hybrid cafe and speakeasy bar with its secret Smeg fridge door. Photo: DAVID COPE<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;When the opportunity came up to have a bar, I thought, fabulous, and so both the cafe and the bar opened at the same time.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Deacon, who has worked in the coffee industry for 15 years, has collaborated with Harrison after his own business faced major setbacks.<\/p>\n<p>He and his wife Sophia opened the former Elwood Cafe nearby in 2019, but after surviving bushfires, the pandemic and major floods, the business was destroyed by fire in June 2022.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We have our roots heavily set in Burringbar, and we love this community so much because they supported us through so many crazy times,&#8221; he said<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The whole concept of Pour Good is about choosing good coffee and treating it with respect and pouring well.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It means a lot to me to share the final story and pay it respect, because we&#8217;ve got the easy role, we get to sip coffee and listen to cool tunes, and the producers at origin are doing back-breaking work.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_116810\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-116810\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-116810\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/29\/2025\/09\/8Q2A0801_47058.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"441\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-116810\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The Natural Wine Shop opened four years ago and is a natural fit with the new speakeasy bar and cafe.
