{"id":110505,"date":"2025-10-04T04:00:00","date_gmt":"2025-10-03T18:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/tweedcoasttimes\/?p=110505"},"modified":"2025-10-01T21:38:01","modified_gmt":"2025-10-01T11:38:01","slug":"wild-aid-rocks-byron","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/tweedcoasttimes\/news\/wild-aid-rocks-byron\/","title":{"rendered":"WILD AID rocks Byron"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>AUSTRALIAN rock legends Hoodoo Gurus and powerhouse vocalist Toni Childs helped raise more than $110,000 for the Byron Bay Wildlife Hospital at last weekend&#8217;s WILD AID charity fundraiser.<\/p>\n<p>Nearly 1,000 people gathered at The Green Room in Tyagarah for the event, which raised funds through ticket and merchandise sales, as well as live and silent auctions \u2014 including two Fender guitars signed by the Hoodoo Gurus.<\/p>\n<p>All performing artists generously donated their time and talents to support the hospital&#8217;s vital work treating sick, injured and orphaned wildlife.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I think everyone had a fantastic time,&#8221; Byron Bay Wildlife Hospital founder and CEO Stephen van Mil said. &#8220;Everyone was dancing and smiling. It was a great vibe. The whole process of thought is to put a spotlight on how much trouble our wildlife are in and raise money for the hospital, but also for everyone to have a fun night.&#8221;<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_117218\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-117218\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-117218\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/29\/2025\/10\/ToniChildsperforming_25989.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"900\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-117218\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Toni Childs performing at WILD AID. Photo: LISA G PHOTOGRAPHY<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The evening opened with sets by Brisbane-based tribute band The Honeysliders and indie guitar pop group Screamfeeder.<\/p>\n<p>US-born singer Toni Childs, who now lives at Federal in the Byron Bay hinterland, then took to the stage, performing hits such as Stop Your Fussin&#8217;, I&#8217;ve Got to Go Now and House of Hope.<\/p>\n<p>Closing out the night were the Hoodoo Gurus, who delivered high-energy performances of classics including Come Anytime, What&#8217;s My Scene and Miss Freelove &#8217;69.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_117219\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-117219\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-117219\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/29\/2025\/10\/AFenderguitarbeingau_27492.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-117219\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">A Fender guitar being auctioned at WILD AID.
