A NEW business degree at Southern Cross University is set to replace traditional models of study, with students working in real industry situations to help equip them for changing technology in the workforce.<\/p>\n

It is the first business degree in the country to replace traditional majors and electives with an integrated, industry-connected model.<\/p>\n

The Bachelor of Business covers finance, strategy, marketing and operations, with mentoring from senior industry figures.<\/p>\n

“This is a bold new direction for how we teach, think about, and deliver business education,” Southern Cross University vice-chancellor, professor Tyrone Carlin said.<\/p>\n

“In business, silos don’t work and neither should our degrees. Employers are asking for graduates who can lead, adapt and collaborate across disciplines.<\/p>\n

“This degree delivers that through practice, not just theory.”<\/p>\n

The redesign is a response to both changing workforce demands and student expectations.<\/p>\n

It will highlight how graduates move across industries, take on hybrid roles, and adapt to emerging technologies.<\/p>\n

Students will move away from case studies, with leadership opportunities and a global reach with potential international placements<\/p>\n

“This isn’t about tweaking a few units,” faculty of business and law executive dean, professor Mike Ewing said.<\/p>\n

“It’s a ground-up rethink of what business education needs to look like in an economy defined by uncertainty, digital transformation and rapid innovation.<\/p>\n

“We want to equip our students not just to get jobs, but to shape the future of work, industry and community.<\/p>\n

“This new model of business education helps us do exactly that.”<\/p>\n

The new Bachelor of Business will be open to enrolments later in the year.<\/p>\n
