{"id":110606,"date":"2025-10-09T13:00:00","date_gmt":"2025-10-09T02:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/tweedcoasttimes\/?p=110606"},"modified":"2025-10-08T16:22:35","modified_gmt":"2025-10-08T05:22:35","slug":"henry-and-huppatz-take-out-tweed-coast-pro-junior","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/tweedcoasttimes\/news\/henry-and-huppatz-take-out-tweed-coast-pro-junior\/","title":{"rendered":"Henry and Huppatz take out Tweed Coast Pro Junior"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>TWEED Coast local Dane Henry and Gold Coast surfer Isla Huppatz have claimed victory at the inaugural MURF Electric Bikes Tweed Coast Pro Junior at Duranbah Beach.<\/p>\n<p>More than 90 of Australia&#8217;s and Oceania&#8217;s best 20-and-under surfers competed for a spot at next year&#8217;s WSL World Junior Championships.<\/p>\n<p>Henry continued his strong run of form by claiming the title on home soil to secure his place in the qualification bracket for the world titles.<\/p>\n<p>Fresh off becoming ISA World Junior Champion, Henry looked unstoppable in the men&#8217;s final, posting an 18-point heat total out of a possible 20.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_117367\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-117367\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-117367\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/29\/2025\/10\/0I4A9764-Edit_18063.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"396\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-117367\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Isla Huppatz was victorious in the Pro Junior women&#8217;s division.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>His lightning-fast approach was too strong for Dom Thomas, Willem Watson and Willis Droomer, who finished second, third and fourth respectively.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I&#8217;m stoked to win the Tweed Coast Pro Junior,&#8221; Henry said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It meant a lot to me to get the win in my hometown in front of all my family and friends, plus the Kingy Boardriders crew as well.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It was one event on the calendar that I really wanted to take out, and I couldn&#8217;t be happier that I achieved that goal.&#8221;<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_117368\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-117368\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-117368\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/29\/2025\/10\/0I4A0021-Edit_18101.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"921\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-117368\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Isla Huppatz and Dane Henry pose with the trophies at the presentation.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>With her first Pro Junior win of the year, Isla Huppatz moved into second place on the Australia\/Oceania Regional Junior Rankings.<\/p>\n<p>The stylish natural-footer also saved her best performance for last, scoring a 16.50 total in the final to defeat Tayla Green, Lucy Darragh and Stella Green.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;You don&#8217;t go in a comp unless you think you can win it, so I had some belief coming in,&#8221; Huppatz said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I took it heat by heat, and I&#8217;m glad to get the win. There were waves across the whole beach, and we were all spread out with opportunity, but I think I got the best of it.
