{"id":111142,"date":"2025-10-31T04:00:00","date_gmt":"2025-10-30T17:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/tweedcoasttimes\/?p=111142"},"modified":"2025-10-29T21:24:37","modified_gmt":"2025-10-29T10:24:37","slug":"flash-mob-turns-into-monster-mash-as-zombies-walk","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/tweedcoasttimes\/news\/flash-mob-turns-into-monster-mash-as-zombies-walk\/","title":{"rendered":"Flash mob turns into monster mash as zombies walk"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>ZOMBIES took over Lismore&#8217;s CBD as residents dressed in fake blood and prosthetics for this year&#8217;s Zombie Walk.<\/p>\n<p>Children and adults joined the fun, filling the streets with blood-spattered costumes, face paint and monster-themed outfits inspired by shows such as The Walking Dead.<\/p>\n<p>The event was organised by Donna Walker, who runs Spottygirl Facepaint and Balloons Lismore.<\/p>\n<p>She has been involved in previous events and compared it to a flash mob and other pop-up celebrations across the region.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It was a lot of fun and that&#8217;s all it&#8217;s supposed to be. There is no big message or hidden meaning behind it,&#8221; Ms Walker said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We had some very keen participants in their zombie clothes and make-up this year.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;A few people came out of Star Court Arcade to see what was going on, so we had to chase them down while I made monster noises on a megaphone.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_118360\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-118360\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-118360\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/29\/2025\/10\/zombiewalk-0435_04883.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-118360\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The Lismore Zombie Walk caught plenty of onlookers by surprise. Photo: EVANNA KELLY<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It was all in good spirit and I think people find it a good way to start Halloween.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Participants aged from seven to 70 joined what was the unofficial launch of Halloween events in Lismore during the week.<\/p>\n<p>Next year looks set to be a bigger event as participants raise the bar in costumes and special effects.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We had a makeup artist involved and the prosthetics she used were amazing,&#8221; Ms Walker said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We almost had to assure some of the kids that it wasn&#8217;t real.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;There are a lot of school and community-based Halloween celebrations these days and we fit in well with that.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;As a face painter, this is one of my busiest times of the year, and probably the one I enjoy the most.&#8221;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>ZOMBIES took over Lismore&#8217;s CBD as residents dressed in fake blood and prosthetics for this year&#8217;s Zombie Walk.
