{"id":111172,"date":"2025-11-01T04:00:00","date_gmt":"2025-10-31T17:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/tweedcoasttimes\/?p=111172"},"modified":"2025-10-29T22:19:34","modified_gmt":"2025-10-29T11:19:34","slug":"nimbin-roots-ends-on-a-high-note","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/tweedcoasttimes\/news\/nimbin-roots-ends-on-a-high-note\/","title":{"rendered":"Nimbin Roots ends on a high note"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>THE Nimbin Roots Festival wrapped up on a high over the weekend, with music lovers turning out in force to enjoy performances from musicians from across the country.<\/p>\n<p>Festival director Lou Bradley, who founded the event in 2016, said she had mixed feelings about bidding farewell to Nimbin Roots as she shifts her focus to the Mullum Roots Festival, which will be held on July 11 and 12.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I feel relieved and a bit sad and very proud,&#8221; she said. &#8220;All the right things.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_118403\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-118403\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-118403\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/29\/2025\/11\/HussyHicksandbandper_79071-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"450\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-118403\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Hussy Hicks wowed the crowd at Nimbin Roots. Photo: YASMIN MORRIS<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;There were lots of loyal people who&#8217;ve been coming for a long time there. We actually didn&#8217;t realise what a strong following we had. It was really nice to have them come and share their stories from over the years. And everyone is really excited about the Mullum Roots Festival.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Local favourites Hussy Hicks and Dog Trumpet \u2013 featuring former Mental As Anything members Reg Mombassa and Peter O&#8217;Doherty \u2013 headlined the final event. The lineup also included Emily Lubitz, Den Hanrahan and some more offbeat acts, such as the Golden Gaytimes and 4 Eyed Water Boy.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_118404\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-118404\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-118404\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/29\/2025\/11\/DenHanrahanatNimbinR_81380-1024x678.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"398\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-118404\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Den Hanrahan at Nimbin Roots.
