GLITZ, glamour and the chance to enjoy a punt after a three-course meal will see hundreds of people take part in Melbourne Cup activities across the region this year.<\/p>\n

A range of events which include prizes, best dressed and live music will be held on Tuesday, November 4.<\/p>\n

Tweed River Jockey Club hosts regions only race day<\/strong><\/p>\n

The only place to get up close with the horses locally is at the Tweed River Jockey Club, Murwillumbah.<\/p>\n

It will feature a five-race card for its annual meeting, which attracts people from around the region.<\/p>\n

The first race will be at 2pm with the Melbourne Cup to be played on the big screen.<\/p>\n

There will be full TAB and bookmaker facilities available on course with tickets available at tweedriverjockeyclub.com.au<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Around the Tweed region<\/strong><\/p>\n

A ticket to South Tweed Sports Club includes a drink on arrival, light entr\u00e9e, main meal, dessert, and live entertainment.<\/p>\n

It will also include an entry for a Mystery Trifecta in the cup.<\/p>\n

Club Tweed will also be involved with a three-course menu prepared by its award winning chefs.<\/p>\n

There will be sweeps, lucky door prizes, prizes for the best dressed male and female and full TAB facilities.<\/p>\n

Cudgen Headland Surf Club is hosting a three-course lunch with a glass of bubbles on arrival.<\/p>\n

Salt Bat at Casuarina is letting the punters plan their own cup day experience with standard table bookings and a premium dining experience curated by chef Matt Kemp.<\/p>\n

There will also be sweepstakes and prizes for best dressed.<\/p>\n

Around the Ballina region<\/strong><\/p>\n

Ballina RSL Club is running an afternoon of music and entertainment with its Spring Fling event.<\/p>\n

Peter Sinclair will be the official MC and plans to keep it light-hearted with live music from The Versace Boys.<\/p>\n

There will be a fashions on the field with plenty of colour and fun that you would usually find trackside at an event.<\/p>\n

The Australian Hotel is also joining in with the event to be screened on the pubs new giant outdoor projector in the beer garden.<\/p>\n

Dress up is encouraged with a cocktail hour to be held after the main race between 4pm-6pm.<\/p>\n

The Shaws Bay Hotel has multiple dining options with its main lunch in the pavillion menu and bistro options.<\/p>\n

Lennox Hotel will run its event as a fundraiser for the local lions club, while the Federal Hotel at Alstonville has a Calcutta and other cup activities.<\/p>\n

Cherry Street Sports is hosting lunches at its Ballina and Lennox Head venues.<\/p>\n

Around the Byron region<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Beach Hotel will be serving seafood and will also have live music. The full menu is available until 3pm with walk-ins welcome.<\/p>\n

Byron Bay Services Club has Punter Packs which includes a three-hour food and drink option.<\/p>\n

Other pubs in town will also be open along with a variety of food specials at the Park Hotel in Suffolk Park.<\/p>\n

It is opening its TAB facilities early at 8am with prizes for best dressed and best fascinator later in the day.<\/p>\n

Pubs and Mullumbimby and Ocean Shores will also have set menus and food specials.<\/p>\n

Around the Lismore region<\/strong><\/p>\n

All eyes in Lismore will be on the annual Our Kids Melbourne Cup Garden Luncheon.<\/p>\n

It will be held at Invercauld House, Goonellabah and raises money for sick and disadvantaged children in the region<\/p>\n

Hotel Lismore has live music from James Sullivan between 1pm and 4pm with a $150 hamper for the lucky door prize.<\/p>\n

The Hilltop Hotel at Goonellabah is running fashions on the field and is also operating a courtesy bus.<\/p>\n
